The Urgency Regarding Youth Swimming Pool Security

Unattended children and swimming pools don’t go together for obvious reasons. It takes a second for a child to fall in a pool, and if nobody sees it happen, the consequences don’t bear thinking about. If you have to leave a pool for even a few seconds your kids go with you, simple as that.

Not only kids drown in pools, non swimmers can find themselves in difficulty pretty quickly too. Life saving devices should always be available, and something as simple as a shepherd hook or life belt can save a life. Keep this supplies handy since you’ll never know when they might be needed.

It’s also a good idea to have a phone at the poolside, so of there is an emergency you can raise help quickly. Sometimes an emergency situation can be determined within a matter of seconds or minutes, and a phone call may serve as the difference.

I hope you already have a fence erected around your pool area. If you haven’t, get one built asap. This will keep any kids away from the pool when it is unattended.

This fence can be any design but must be at least 6 feet tall and have a padlock on the gate. Keep the key with you at all times so you know nobody can sneak in.

Find a class in your area that teaches you how to do CPR and get yourself along. You will be safe in the knowledge that should a situation arise, you will know what to do.

Stay by your pool at all times if there are people using it. If anyone falls in or gets into difficulties you will be able to react immediately and save someone’s life.

Safety is a priority with private pools, and you are ultimately responsible. You must always ensure that you lock the gate at the end of your day by the pool.
