Rolled Bamboo Fencing – A Unique Fencing Solution
Bamboo fencing is a perfect way to dress up your outdoor space. But it’s not limited to outside. Rolled bamboo has a place indoors as well, where it is used in window dressings and as decorative room dividers. Primarily though rolled bamboo fencing is used to create truly unique looks around gardens or patio.
A rolled bamboo fence is strong and durable. In fact, the heavier rolled bamboo is as strong as cedar. Bamboo can last upwards of twenty years if maintained properly. It should be treated like wood products to prevent cracking and drying.
When used for fencing, rolled bamboo has to be supported on some sort of a rigid frame. This could be as part of a new fence or over an existing fence.
Installation on an existing fence is pretty straightforward. It simply needs to be attached. By far the easiest way to attach it to a wooden fence is to use a staple gun along with galvanized or stainless steel staples. Staples go over the wire holding the rolled fencing together. That way they are not visible once the rolled fencing is in place.
Applying a roll of bamboo to a chain link fence is even easier. You simply use galvanized wire to tie the rolled bamboo to the chain linking. Tie the wire at intervals of four or five inches to the top, middle and bottom. Be sure to hide that wire by sliding it under the wire holding the bamboo together.
When using rolled bamboo for a new fence, you will need to make a frame to support the rolled material. Use wooden poles for the posts that will go into the ground. Then add top and bottom rails as well as smaller wooden boards run horizontally to attach the rolled bamboo to. Apply the bamboo material in the same way as is done for an existing fence.
Once the bamboo fencing rolls are attached to the frame you can trim them to fit with a miter saw or pruning sheers. It’s important that bamboo does not touch the ground. Because it is a grass rather than wood, it will deteriorate if it comes into direct contact with the ground. Using a wooden frame and posts avoids this problem.
With so many styles and types of rolled bamboo fencing available, the hardest part of building a fence may be in deciding which bamboo fencing to use. So what is it going to be – solid, split or woven bamboo?
For a unique fencing solution, why not consider bamboo fencing. Bamboo fence panels make installation easy. Panels come in a variety of sizes and patterns. Choose from rolled bamboo fencing or split bamboo fencing.
