How To Grow A Lush Lawn

Most homeowners take great pride in having a lush green lawn. It is usually challenging to maintain a healthy lawn during the hotter months. Having a healthy lawn is not impossible, but it does take some knowledge. Below are some tips to help you grow a great lawn this summer:

Amount of moisture: Different kinds of grass require varying amounts of water to grow. Many homeowners don’t give their lawn enough water through the course of a seven day period. You need to use enough water to soak into the soil of your yard but not enough to create water to flood through your grass.

Dirt quality: Don’t forget that your lawn quality will largely be dependent on your soil. Different soils will supply different nutrients for your lawn and will retain moisture at different rates. Many landscape centers offer services to test your dirt and then make suggestions about specific lawn care tips.

Using a sprinkler: Sprinklers should gently spread the water over a large area of your grass without flooding any single spot. Obviously, a sprinkler should be used on sunny days and should not be used during days with rain or 3 days after a heavy rain. Many landscape professionals agree that the morning is the best time to water your lawn. You will often want to water for 20 to 40 minutes per day, depending on the rainfall you’ve had during the week. The amount of rain expected for the week could also help you time your grass planting.

Using a lawn mower: Just as you are advises to use your sprinkler in the morning, you should also cut your lawn during the cooler time of the day. Sharpening your lawn mower blades twice a season will ensure that your grass is cut evenly. some people don’t realize that cutting your grass can keep it healthy. Lawns should be kept to a minimum of 3 inches to prevent it from turning brown.

With a little time your lawn can stay thick and healthy all season long. You will enjoy your yard a lot more if you take a few moments each day to take care of it properly. Remember, it only takes one dry spell to turn your grass brown, so be careful and you will keep your yard green!

Growing a healthy lawn is just the first step. You may need help getting your lawn mower started this spring if it’s been sitting idle for all winter long.
