Fencing In Your Garden? Consider A Bamboo Garden Fence
You have a lot of choices when you decide to install a fence around your garden area. A fence can protect your garden from animals as well as adding to the appearance of your backyard. A bamboo garden fence can do both.
Bamboo garden fences come in many sizes and designs. Use either premade fence panels or try your hand with split or rolled bamboo. Either choice will produce results you will be pleased with.
If you’re feeling creative and have some extra time you may want to build your own fence. There are a few things that can make it easier.
If you decide to construct a bamboo garden fence, use pressure treated posts to go into the ground. Because these are treated, they have a longer life than cedar posts, so your bamboo fence will also last longer.
When necessary, cut bamboo canes with a fine bladed hacksaw. Using other types of saws can result in the cane splitting. When cutting the bamboo cane, be sure to make your cut on an angle and above the cane joint. That way the membrane provides protection against water collecting.
When attaching the bamboo to the posts, use a drill to make a hole slightly bigger than the nail. This reduces the chance of the bamboo cracking or being crushed.
One thing to note about bamboo is that it is really a grass and not wood. Because of that it can’t come into direct contact with the ground. If it does, it deteriorates. If you want your fence to fit tightly against the ground, simply run a piece of wood along the bottom and then attach the bamboo above it.
Bamboo fencing can easily last years when it’s built and cared for properly. Just like you need to treat a wooden fence with a preservative to keep it in good shape, a bamboo fence is no different. Use a preservative that has UV protection for best results.
After several years, you might notice that the bamboo is fading and starting to crack. This is normal and caused by sunlight and weather. Even wood fences are subject to deterioration over time. You can slow down the damage by regularly applying preservatives.
You are making a good decision when you build a bamboo garden fence. Since bamboo is considered a renewable resource, by using bamboo rather than another material, you are helping the environment. And you will end up with a truly unique and beautiful fence around your garden.
For a truly unique fencing solution, why not consider bamboo fencing. Bamboo fence panels make installation easy. Panels come in a variety of sizes and patterns. Choose from split bamboo fencing or rolled bamboo fencing. Visit bamboofencepanels.net for more information.
