Falling Leaves Means New Yard Work In The Autumn
A lot of people that have large yards at their home and that also do their own yard work are sometimes very glad to see the summer season go. That could be because they have spent a good portion of those warm weather months mowing, clipping, raking and weed eating. If you have a good size outdoor space and you want to keep it looking good, you have to work on it almost every weekend and that can be very hot and tiresome. Most homeowners that do their own yard work are glad to see the summer season go.
Even though the end of Summer might bring a break from the heat and the mowing, if you have a lot of trees in your yard and you want to continue to keep that manicured look, you still have more yard work to do. Trees can rain down thousands upon thousands of leaves everywhere. Even though they are beautiful to look at on trees when they change color, when they are on your lawn, they can become an eyesore that you just want to get rid of.
Cleaning up tons of leaves is not such a fun job either, but if you have a great leaf blower and a bag attachment for your lawn mowers, it can make it go much faster than if you just use a rake. If you are smart you will make a compost pile and have some great mulch to use in the Spring. After all of the leaves have fallen, it is the very best time to clean the gutters on your home too. It will be easier than waiting until they are a mushy mess come spring time and they will be clear through the winter.
If you want your trees and shrubs to look great in the coming Spring season, then you will need to do your pruning and bulb planting now. A bulb drill will make the flowers planting go faster and sharp pruning shears will take care of the trees and shrubs. Now is the time to get your Fall decorating underway. You can add back those colorful leaf colors by using corn stalks, gourds, fall mums and pumpkins for decorating. Scarecrows, skeletons and ghosts are perfect for Halloween. Once Halloween is over, you can remove the spooky stuff and leave items that represent harvest.
Caring for your yard on your own is a year round job and one season is just as important as another. You might not think that there is that much to do in the Fall, but if you do your own work then you know that is definitely not the truth! An Autumn yard can be just as lovely to look at as it is in the Summertime if you know how to make it that way.
