Beautiful And Affordable Backyard Landscaping Ideas
Add beauty to your yard with affordable backyard landscaping ideas. It will be even more beautiful because it was done with your own hands. Research and planning may be needed to achieve your picture of a great backyard. Choosing not to use a professional landscaper saves money if the changes are not major.
A budget will help to keep costs from getting out of control. Start with a conservative number of how much will be spent. Write it down and make it the rule not an estimate. Everything that will be bought has to be written down to keep on track with the budget. Go online and price the items ahead of time and make changes and adjustments to the plan as needed.
In store, a nursery can answer any questions regarding what to plant where. It is the same place to find out about the care and feeding of the plants and flowers chosen. Ask for ones that naturally grow in your area. Find out about what pests to protect them from and what is attracted to them. If you have pets, mention them so nothing that they may ingest will harm them. Of course, a trip to the library can help but speaking to an expert may be the best way to get started.
Graph paper may be used to plot out the backyard as it currently is. On this make note of significant areas. Consistently wet areas, dry or dead areas, hills, trees, shaded or pine needle covered areas all need to be shown on the drawing. Do a new one with all the changes or improvements you would like to make. It helps to visualize the end product. If measurements are taken, it can help the person at the nursery give numbers of plants or flowers necessary to fill an area.
If hours outside with the lawn mower, edger, and fertilizer are not for you, consider limiting lawn areas. Create a rock garden or add some flower beds. Use pavers to make a patio and put an all in one gazebo with screen closures on it. You may wish to make a play area for kids.
For adding small touches try using old items from the home as planters. Spray paint old coffee cans or old soda cans and bottles. Use those items that otherwise would have been thrown out or given away. Use that chipped pottery, an old wagon or a wheelbarrow. An old table or chair could be used to create a garden around.
Gravel, stones, pavers, and slate may be used to make pathways in the yard. These pathways can divide the patio, lawn and vegetable garden. It can be a walkway to the pool or gazebo. This saves the lawn and flowerbeds. Solar lights can be used to light the pathways, which look beautiful at night. It saves electricity use and money.
To create a focal point in the yard, choose one piece you feel is beautiful. Or you may want something that invokes peace and tranquility. This may be a statue, birdbath or fountain. There are many backyard landscaping ideas to make yours beautiful.
