Landscaping Equipment: Cutting the Job Down to Size

Having the right tools can make all the difference in the final outcome of a project. And this rule is as true for landscaping projects as it is for any others. The right landscaping equipment can simplify the most arduous landscaping tasks, be they individual or group efforts. A wide variety of landscaping equipment is now available to make the every landscaping job less difficult.

Landscaping equipment ranges in size from small to hefty, and the landscaper who has access to all of it is a lucky landscaper indeed. But if you don’t have the money or the space required for a complete set of landscaping tools, you can always buy just the basics and rent whatever else you need.

Landscaping Equipment Necessities Among the larger pieces of landscaping equipment are chain saws. A good chain saw can mean the difference between an okay landscaping effort and a spectacular one. A chain saw makes the removal or trimming of trees or bushes possible, creating room for more ornamental plants. And trimming trees of excessive branches makes them less likely to be a danger in windstorms.

Another highly effective piece of landscaping equipment is the ratchet pruner. Like the chain saw, the ratchet pruner is an effective wood and vegetation removal tool, and designed so that it cuts with a minimum of force. You will feel, when you use a ratchet pruner, as if it were doing your work for you.

Hedge trimmers are an essential piece of landscaping equipment; they are available in electric and gas-fueled models as well as the standard hand-powered variety. Weed whackers are also gas or electrically driven, and are great landscaping equipment for keeping those difficult-to-access areas in corners and under fences looking well-groomed.

An alternative to the chainsaw, an alligator looper is a piece of landscaping equipment which can trim vegetation. And let’s not forget that prototypical piece of landscaping equipment, the power, or push, lawn mower. The riding lawn mower, in fact, has a place in the hearts of many a homeowner only slightly less elevated that of the family car.

For more delicate work, hand pruners are great at trimming roses and other blooming plants. No self-respecting landscaper is without a well-made hand pruner.

All home and garden stores, and many regular department stores, have a wide selection of landscaping equipment. So why not pay one of them a visit and start your own collection of the tools of the landscaping trade?
